What is Marketing?

What is marketing? The simple definition of marketing is the act or process of buying and selling in the marketplace. But to completely understand the complete answer to the question "What is marketing?” you must do your research, and find an answer much more in depth than the simple definition. The following paragraphs will help you understand better what marketing means to a business.

Very often, when trying to see the complete picture as to what is marketing, people will first think of marketing tactics used by others. Some of the most common marketing tactics include:

• television advertisements
• paper publication advertisements
• website promotions
• email campaigns

While marketing tactics are indeed an important part of marketing, marketing tactics are not the only part of marketing.

Marketing analysis is another extremely important aspect of marketing. In order to answer the question "What is marketing?" more completely than the dictionary does, you must understand marketing analysis and why it is important to a product or service. Marketing analysis reveals many important and useful facts and data including:

• the best potential target consumer groups for your product or company
• your product or companies strong points
• your product or companies weak points

Marketing analysis not only will help to assess which markets would be best, but also enable you to provide the best product or service you can.

So, what is marketing? Marketing is first the act of analyzing potential markets for your product or service, in order to identify potential customers. After that, marketing includes analyzing your product or service, as well, in order to determine strengths and weaknesses. The simple definition of marketing is the act or process of buying or selling in the marketplace. But included in the buying and selling processes, market analysis is as important as marketing tactics when trying to see the full picture.
